In this post I’m going to cover every attraction at Islands of Adventure, one of the parks at Universal Orlando! Compared with Universal Studios Florida, it has more modern attractions and more high-thrill rides. It’s also home to Hogwarts Castle, so if you’re visiting Universal Orlando, this is a park you can’t skip.
Below I’ve listed every attraction, land by land. As a self-proclaimed ride fanatic, I’ve added my own star ratings ⭐️ and sorted everything into four categories to make it easy to follow:
- Thrilling attractions: 🌠 Thrill ride
- Slow-moving attractions: 🐌 Slow ride
- Attractions where you sit and watch in a theater: 🎭 Show
- Places to meet Universal characters: 🤩 Character experience
Plus:
- 💧 marks attractions where you might get wet.
- 💫 marks attractions that accept Universal Express Pass.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade
The park’s main area, home to Hogwarts Castle. With its snow-covered village, charming shops and magical music playing, it really feels like you’ve stepped into the real Hogsmeade.
- Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure™ / 🌠 Thrill ride / ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The most popular coaster at Islands of Adventure, and you ride it on a motorbike. You sit as if you’re on a real bike, so the sense of speed is overwhelming, and meeting magical creatures in the forest is a fresh experience. Don’t miss it!
- 💫 Flight of the Hippogriff™ / 🌠 Thrill ride / ⭐️⭐️
A light family coaster themed to a Hippogriff training course built by Hagrid. The thrills are mild, but the views are nice, so it’s perfect to ride with kids.
- 💫 Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey™ / 🌠 Thrill ride / ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A Harry Potter simulator ride. You actually walk inside Hogwarts Castle, then fly with Harry through scenes from the films: the Forbidden Forest, the Quidditch pitch, a dark space full of Dementors and more.
- 💫 Hogwarts™ Express (Park-to-Park admission ticket required) / 🐌 Slow ride / ⭐️⭐️
A train that runs between King’s Cross Station and Hogsmeade just like a real one. Each direction shows a different film, so a round trip is a must!
- Ollivanders™ Experience in Hogsmeade™ / 🎭 Show
A performance recreating the moment a wand chooses its wizard in Ollivanders. A group goes in together and one person is picked at random to try choosing a wand.
- Frog Choir / 🎭 Show
A performance with Hogwarts students and their frogs. It’s a pretty little show where you can take a short break while listening to Hogwarts songs.
- Triwizard Spirit Rally / 🎭 Show
Watch the Durmstrang students’ group routine and the Beauxbatons students’ ribbon ballet.
- Hogwarts™ Always / 🎭 Show
A nighttime show with light and video projection-mapped onto Hogwarts Castle. Watching it in front of the castle at night is twice as moving.
Jurassic Park
A themed land decorated with giant dinosaur figures and a jungle atmosphere.
- Jurassic World VelociCoaster / 🌠 Thrill ride / ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The most thrilling roller coaster at Universal Orlando. Sudden launches, drops, sections that twist past 90 degrees… it feels like you’re a flying reptile soaring over the park. If you love thrill rides, you absolutely cannot miss this one.
- Jurassic Park River Adventure / 🌠 Thrill ride / ⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 💧
A water ride where you take a Jurassic Park boat past the dinosaurs, ending with a huge drop. You can get wet, so a change of clothes or a poncho is a good idea.
- Jurassic Park Discovery Center™
An indoor space that’s nice to explore with kids, with lots of educational elements like dinosaur egg hatching and hands-on exhibits.
- Pteranodon Flyers™ / 🐌 Slow ride
A gentle ride that glides over the area. It has a height requirement, which makes it ideal for families with children.
Skull Island: Reign of Kong
- Skull Island: Reign of Kong / 🌠 Thrill ride / ⭐️⭐️⭐️
A dark, massive attraction based on the King Kong universe. You ride a vehicle past monsters all over the island, ending in an overwhelming face-to-face encounter with Kong.
Toon Lagoon
A bright, fun area themed to comic characters.
- Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls® / 🌠 Thrill ride / ⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 💧
A log flume full of cartoon-style gags. The final drop is pretty big, so you can get wetter than you expect!
- Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges® / 🌠 Thrill ride / ⭐️⭐️⭐️ / 💧
A round raft ride that spins through the rapids. You don’t just get wet, you get drenched, so a poncho is a must!

Marvel Super Hero Island
An area with rides themed to Marvel comic characters, plus a chance to take photos with Marvel characters.

A Spider-Man attraction combining 3D technology with a motion simulator. It’s a popular ride that Universal fans call the gold standard.
- Doctor Doom’s Fearfall® / 🌠 Thrill ride / ⭐️⭐️⭐️
A drop tower that shoots straight up and then falls. You get that sudden feeling of your legs dropping out from under you.
- The Incredible Hulk Coaster® / 🌠 Thrill ride / ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Hulk coaster launches you at high speed right from the start. It’s rougher than VelociCoaster, so your body may ache afterward, but for thrill lovers it’s a must-ride!
- Meet Spider-Man and the Marvel® Super Heroes / 🤩 Character experience
Meet Marvel heroes like Spider-Man and Captain America in person.

The Lost Continent
An area themed to ancient myths. It doesn’t have any rides.
- The Mystic Fountain / 🎭 Show
A “talking fountain” show that chats with guests in a humorous way.
