Hollywood Studios Attractions Guide: Every Ride and Show, Rated by Area

In this post I’ll introduce every attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Personally, this is my favorite park at Disney World 💕 There are lots of thrill rides, and the Star Wars and Pixar areas are so beautifully themed that there’s something to look at everywhere.

Let’s get straight into the attractions, area by area. I’ve sorted them into four types and added my own star rating ⭐️ as a self-proclaimed ride fanatic:

• 🌠 Thrill ride – rides with real thrills
• 🐌 Slow ride – rides that move slowly
• 🎭 Show – attractions you watch sitting in a theater
• 🤩 Character experience – where you can meet Disney characters

Plus:

• 💧 marks attractions where you might get a little wet.
• 💫 marks attractions included in Lightning Lane Multi Pass, the paid line-skipping option.

Hollywood Studios map

🎬 Hollywood Boulevard

The entrance area of Hollywood Studios, a recreation of a classic Hollywood street. There are no attractions, but souvenir shops and cafés line both sides, so you can start the day at a relaxed pace.

🌆 Sunset Boulevard

• 💫 The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ / 🌠 Thrill ride / ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A drop ride set in a cursed, haunted hotel. It’s not just a drop – there’s also a section where you travel through the inside of the hotel, so it’s incredibly immersive.

• 💫 Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith / 🌠 Thrill ride / ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A super-fast roller coaster with the storyline of racing to an Aerosmith concert. It launches hard right from the start for a real adrenaline rush. (Note: it’s due to be re-themed to the Muppets, so hurry if you want to ride the current version!)

• Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After / 🎭 Show / ⭐️⭐️ A musical show starring Disney villains. Cruella, Captain Hook and the Evil Queen from Snow White compete to see who’s the greatest villain, with the audience taking part. It’s the only villain-themed show in the Disney parks and it opened recently, so it’s very popular.

• 💫 Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage / 🎭 Show / ⭐️ A live musical version of Beauty and the Beast. The cast’s singing and acting are excellent, and it’s especially popular with families.

• Fantasmic! / 🎭 Show / ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hollywood Studios’ signature nighttime show ✨ A fantastical adventure born from Mickey’s imagination, told with fireworks, lighting, fountains and projections. It’s huge and draws enormous crowds, so claiming your seat early is a must!!

🎨 Animation Courtyard

• 💫 The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure / 🎭 Show / ⭐️ A musical show themed to The Little Mermaid. Video, puppetry and special effects come together to bring the undersea world vividly to life.

• Wonderful World of Animation / 🎭 Show / ⭐️ A nighttime projection show of short clips featuring famous Disney and Pixar scenes, projection-mapped against the night sky. It runs right after Fantasmic!, so it’s easy to catch both.

🥁 Toy Story Land

• 💫 Slinky Dog Dash / 🌠 Thrill ride / ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A roller coaster shaped like Slinky Dog. It keeps speeding up and slowing down along the way, which makes it a popular family thrill ride. The queue is decorated with lots of cute details, so there’s plenty to look at while you wait.

• 💫 Alien Swirling Saucers / 🐌 Slow ride / ⭐️⭐️ You ride a UFO driven by the Toy Story aliens and spin around. Unlike simple teacups, it rotates and revolves at the same time, so adults find it surprisingly fun too.

• 💫 Toy Story Mania! / 🐌 Slow ride / ⭐️⭐️⭐️ A 3D shooting game with the Toy Story characters – you wear 3D glasses and pull a string shooter to hit targets for points. It’s way more fun if you compete against your group!

• Green Army Drum Corps / 🎭 Show / ⭐️⭐️ A street show where the green army men from Toy Story perform on drums. It’s rhythmic and short, and kids especially love it.

• Meet the Toys in Toy Story Land / 🤩 Character experience Meet the Toy Story heroes Woody, Jessie and Buzz Lightyear in person.

🛸 Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

• Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance / 🌠 Thrill ride / ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The most popular attraction at Hollywood Studios! You’re captured and held prisoner at an enemy base, then escape with help from the Resistance. The scale and staging are overwhelming, giving it some of the best immersion of any Disney ride. The line is always long, so I recommend going at rope drop.

• 💫 Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run / 🐌 Slow ride / ⭐️⭐️⭐️ An interactive ride where a team of six flies the Millennium Falcon. Everyone takes a role (pilot, gunner or engineer) and has to work together, and the ride experience changes depending on how you do – which makes it really fun.

📡 Pixar Plaza

• 💫 Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway / 🐌 Slow ride / ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A 2.5D trackless ride following Mickey and Minnie’s adventures. The pre-show, where the screen bursts open and you go inside it, is really impressive, and all ages can enjoy it.

• Meet Edna Mode at the Edna Mode Experience / 🤩 Character experience Meet Edna Mode, the costume designer from The Incredibles, in person.

• Meet Joy at Pixar / 🤩 Character experience Meet Joy, the main character of Inside Out.

• Meet Pixar Pals at Pixar Plaza (The Incredibles) / 🤩 Character experience An area where you can take photos with various Pixar friends, including characters from The Incredibles.

🍱 Commissary Lane

• 💫 Star Tours – The Adventures Continue / 🐌 Slow ride / ⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Star Wars simulator ride. The scenes change randomly each time, so you get a new experience even if you ride it several times.

• Vacation Fun – An Original Animated Short with Mickey & Minnie / 🎭 Show / ⭐️⭐️ A small theater showing an animated short – a nice place to take a break.

• 💫 For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration / 🎭 Show / ⭐️⭐️ A sing-along show where you can sing the great songs from Frozen. In the second half, live performers appear and really lift the mood.

• Meet Disney Stars at Red Carpet Dreams (Mickey & Minnie) / 🤩 Character experience A popular character greeting spot where you can meet Mickey and Minnie.

• Meet Olaf at Celebrity Spotlight / 🤩 Character experience This is where you can meet Olaf from Frozen.

🌅 Echo Lake

• 💫 Indiana Jones™ Epic Stunt Spectacular! / 🎭 Show / ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A show that recreates stunt scenes from the Indiana Jones movies live. The real explosions, falls and fight stunts are really impressive. It’s big and very popular, so I recommend lining up before seating begins.
