Magic Kingdom Tips: Holiday Parties, Parade and Fireworks Spots
- Halloween party tickets usually go on sale around May, Christmas party tickets around August
- Watch the day parade in the shade by Country Bear Jamboree; claim castle spots an hour early at night
- For fireworks, the stretch from the Walt Disney statue down Main Street beats right in front of the castle

#1 Halloween in autumn 👻, Christmas in winter 🎄!
Magic Kingdom has its own special event tickets: the Halloween-themed Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and the winter Christmas-themed Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. If you’re visiting in August–October, try the Halloween party, and if you’re visiting in November–December, don’t miss the Christmas party.
These events need a separate ticket, so they’re kept apart from regular day guests and the crowds are relatively small. At the Halloween party I went to, I grabbed a spot in front of Cinderella Castle about an hour before the party started and could watch the fireworks comfortably. On top of that, there are a special parade, fireworks and trick-or-treating made just for the event.
Event tickets are sold separately from regular park tickets, and popular dates sell out easily. Halloween party tickets usually go on sale around May, and Christmas party tickets around August. I recommend checking the release date on the official website or app and booking as soon as you can.
#2 Buying Disney ears & outfits
At Magic Kingdom you’ll see lots of people wearing ear headbands or Disney-themed outfits. The park sells all kinds of cute merchandise, and even a single pair of ears really lifts the mood! But prices at the Disney resort shops are high – a single headband can cost ₩50,000–60,000 (in Korean won) 😢
So I recommend buying them online before your trip (from AliExpress or Amazon). I bought matching family T-shirts and a Disney-print skirt in advance, and people kept asking me where I got them (so proud!). Here are the items I bought with my own money:
-
Disney Mickey women’s pleated skirt | ₩16,150 https://a.aliexpress.com/_c34z8T4n
-
2025 Disney trip graphic T-shirt with Mickey and Minnie Mouse print | ₩24,950 https://a.aliexpress.com/_c3lOGwXZ
-
Mickey Mouse ears headband | ₩3,500 https://a.aliexpress.com/_c2JPEOaf
#3 Best parade viewing spots
Orlando is sunny and very hot during the day. Especially for the parade that starts at 2 p.m., a shaded spot makes a huge difference. For the daytime parade, I recommend the shade under the Jamboree attraction (Country Bear Jamboree) in the Adventureland area.
The nighttime parade (the Starlight parade) leads into the fireworks afterward, so I recommend claiming a spot around Cinderella Castle at least an hour in advance. I’ve marked the best parade spots on the map in #6.
#4 Best fireworks viewing spots
The fireworks are set off around Cinderella Castle together with projection mapping. That’s why so many people gather in front of the castle – but right in front of the castle, the fireworks can be hidden behind the castle and the projection mapping can be hard to see.
Instead, the stretch from the Walt Disney statue down Main Street gives you a clear view and lets you enjoy the projection mapping too. One caution: if there’s a small child right in front of you, their dad may lift them onto his shoulders and block your view, so avoid standing right behind little kids.
Bonus: Fireworks dessert party package (Happily Ever After Fireworks Dessert Party)
If you want to enjoy the fireworks in comfort, consider a dessert party package. You watch the fireworks from a dedicated viewing area (such as Plaza Garden or Tomorrowland Terrace) while enjoying a dessert buffet and drinks. It’s expensive, but the advantage is that you can watch the show comfortably without getting jostled by the crowd.
Here’s what the packages include. If you’re interested, be sure to book 60 days before your park visit or your check-in at a Disney resort hotel!
🎆 Package types
The fireworks dessert party comes in three options:
1️⃣ Pre-Party – enjoy desserts before the show, then move to Plaza Garden (a lawn area) and watch the fireworks standing.
2️⃣ Post-Party – watch the fireworks from Plaza Garden first, then enjoy dessert time after the show.
3️⃣ Seats & Sweets (or Treats & Seats) – the most relaxed option: you watch the fireworks seated at a table inside Tomorrowland Terrace restaurant.
💵 Prices (as of 2025)
| Option | Adult | Child |
|---|---|---|
| Plaza Garden viewing (Pre / Post Party) | about $99 | about $59 |
| Seats & Sweets | about $114 | about $69 |
🌟 How to book
You can book through the official Walt Disney World website or the My Disney Experience app. Package guests can enter about one hour before the show starts.
#5 PhotoPass
I bought PhotoPass, and I’ve marked the best photo spots on the map in #6 too. If you didn’t buy PhotoPass, you can also hand your own phone to a photographer and they’ll often take the photo for you. However, shots that need their special cameras (like zoom shots and distortion shots) can only be viewed with a watermark in the app.
#6 My Magic Kingdom park map
This is a Magic Kingdom park map I made myself, marked with:
- 🚩 Attractions
- 📷 PhotoPass spots
- 🎀 Mickey character meet
- 🎇 Best fireworks & parade spots (afternoon)
- 🎠 Best parade spots (morning)
so everything is easy to see at a glance.
