Hollywood Studios Lightning Lane Multi Pass Strategy and Best Route

At a glance
  • At Hollywood Studios the top 6 Multi Pass attractions sell out during the morning
  • Start with Slinky Dog Dash, Toy Story Mania! and Tower of Terror to clear Toy Story Land quickly
  • Later Multi Pass bookings tend to bunch up in the afternoon, so Premier Pass suits anyone wanting to walk less

In this post I’m sharing my Lightning Lane Multi Pass strategy for Hollywood Studios. I’ve covered Multi Pass strategies for the other parks too, so check out my earlier posts if you’re curious!

Multi Pass return times fill up quickly from the morning, so popular attractions book up very fast. Hollywood Studios in particular has so many fun attractions that bookings sell out faster than at the other parks, so a strategy is essential. I used average data from the last 7 days to put together the Hollywood Studios Multi Pass sell-out ranking. (Data source: thrill-data.com)

📌 Hollywood Studios Multi Pass sell-out ranking (last 7-day average)

  1. Slinky Dog Dash
  2. Toy Story Mania!
  3. The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™
  4. The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure
  5. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
  6. Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
  7. Indiana Jones™ Epic Stunt Spectacular!
  8. For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration
  9. Alien Swirling Saucers
  10. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
  11. Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage
  12. Star Tours – The Adventures Continue
  13. Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance

At Hollywood Studios, the top 6 attractions sell out quickly during the morning. So you need a more carefully planned Multi Pass strategy than at the other parks.

The key is to get through your first 3 as fast as possible, centered on the Toy Story Land area.

✔ First 3 bookings

  • Slinky Dog Dash (Tier 1)
  • Toy Story Mania! (Tier 2)
  • The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ (Tier 2)

✔ What to book as you move around

  • After Slinky Dog Dash → book The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure
  • After Toy Story Mania! → book Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith
  • After The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ → book Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway

This stretch needs to move very quickly, so I recommend holding off on photos for a bit and prioritizing getting from place to place. After this point things get more relaxed, so book whatever fits your own schedule and route.

🧭 My suggested route

  1. Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage
  2. Indiana Jones™ Epic Stunt Spectacular!
  3. For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration
  4. Star Tours – The Adventures Continue
  5. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
  6. Alien Swirling Saucers

⏳ Got time to kill between return times?

If you have an awkward gap before your next return time, I recommend:

  • the character greetings in the Pixar Place area, or
  • a show on Sunset Boulevard that isn’t part of Multi Pass: 👉 Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After

Follow this strategy and you’ll be able to use Multi Pass for all the main attractions at Hollywood Studios. That said, because Hollywood Studios has so many popular attractions, most of your Multi Pass bookings after the first 3 will bunch up in the afternoon, and your route can get pretty tangled. So if you want to walk less and enjoy the park as comfortably as possible, I recommend Premier Pass. If you chose Multi Pass to save money, booking with the strategy above is the most efficient way to go.
